Over the past 5 years we have used them all in our slip. When we used cedar we always let them dry out and striped the dead brush off them. Built a lot of PVC condos. The ones that have worked the best for us by far are the ones we made out of Bamboo. It will last forever vs. the cedar,and it does take time for the PVC to get algae on them.

Plus , one can get bamboo for free if you just do a little search on C L. The only cost is the concrete and buckets.
