I have a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI mounted on my kayak. I need help getting my settings straight. On the down imaging page I seem to get a lot of static. Do I run it in 455 or 800? Not sure about ping speed, sensitivity, etc. any help would be appreciated. I mainly fish for bass out of my kayak in 2-15 ft of water.

I have the same model in my boat. Default settings out of the box work pretty good. From there you may want to adjust sensitivity and color slightly. Down imaging is going to be like you describe under 10 feet, especially now with the recent flooding and lots of stuff in the water - my experience. I use 455Khz. In these situations, I use the "traditional" non DSI 200Khz, seems to work a little better.
