I'm looking for any hints or pointers anyone could provide for fishing deep. I'm trying to commit to the deep bite this year and just looking for a little direction.

Understand your electronics. When you find fish don't give up hope if they don't bite the first thing you throw. Throw from multiple angles and throw a variety of baits.

Shakey head. Light as you can feel. You dont have to fish vertical, but you dont need long casts either. Rattle snake on a shakey head will get bit if you fish slow. I have left it down for 10 min on a 10 yard cast before the bite.
You do not have to go too heavy, but it needs to stay on the bottom.
If you find the school, moving baits can fire em up sometimes, but something hanging around too long will get them to take a look at it.

Woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun....
