Hi guys,
I've been a long time member, but never made a post until now. I have a 2008 Nitro Z-6 with a 115 Optimax 22P Laser II on the back. I had this setup last year running 50mph GPS @ 5400-5500 RPM at Fort Phantom Hill in Abilene, Texas.
Over the winter, I moved to New Mexico and the first time I took the boat out it was very sluggish out of the hole (which it's never had a great holeshot) and on the big end. I'm now running 40mph GPS @ 5050RPM. This is still in the operating range of the Opti, but doesn't explain the performance loss. Everything is setup the same as the last time I used it, including load, fuel, etc.
I pulled my fuel filter out and found the fuel line had broken down and left all sorts of lining deposits in the fuel line itself and the fuel filter bowl seemingly restricting fuel flow. I cleaned all of it out thinking it was going to be the source of my problem, but I picked up 1 mph and 50-75 RPM. So, now I'm lost.
I know at my elevation (4500ft), I should experience some loss in power from the 1500ish ft elevation I had in Abilene; but this seems excessive. So, I plugged the numbers into a prop slip calculator and it come up with 22% prop slip on a bass boat!!
Here's where you guys come in...Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Thanks in advance!
Scott
Edit: Outboard runs fine otherwise. (Idle and starting)

it is your altitude change, 3,000 feet will make a difference on fuel/air mixture and prop. you need to drop #'s on the prop, maybe a 20? check with steve and see what he thinks but I will bet on altitude change being the problem.

Customer running the same setup here with a 19 pitch. Only reason I know is we changed props trying to get the lean out of the boat.

Altitude is your enemy, 100 rpms per 1,000 feet easy.
