What depth for consistent summer patterns. 30 feet or more?

Agree, let the fish tell you how deep and at what depth they are going to be active on a given day.

If I had to guess on a average depth and usually were I start looking is 15 feet out to 25 feet usually you can find them in that area but they will go deeper but then you throw in the thermocline now that changes things up.

Heres' an example: yesterday I saw guys catching them drop-shotting a deep point in 25-28 feet of water, while I was catching them in about 10-13. It varies on every lake.

Yep every lake is different, and not all fish go deep. I catch them shallow in the summer as much as I catch them deep. Like others have said let the fish tell you.

Water clarity, grass etc are big factors. Crystal clear lakes 30-50 isn't out of the question.

One of the biggest considerations this time of year is a thermocline. I've been finding the tops of thermoclines on different lakes from 15' out to 22'; keep in mind bass and bait fish do not live very long, if at all, below a thermocline due to the lack of oxygen. I've been fishing one or two feet above the thermocline, structure in that depth, and catching bigger fish.

Lol. Nasworthy in San Angelo is just barely 20' deep at the dam. So anything over 10' deep on that lake is considered a deep bite.
