While grilling crappie for a Rangers Baseball watching party at my sister's house Friday evening, my nephew and his duck hunting buddy were asking.

"When are we going fishing?"

Be at my house in the morning, we leave at 5:30am. No need to twist my arm.

To the best of my knowledge they are 240 different species of trees that are Native to Texas. Looking down the list of trees, I didn't see my favorite tree listed.

The Texas Plum Tree.

It didn't take duck hunting Johnny long to master the 10 foot crappie pole that was twice his height, he was swinging slabs all over the boat and when he said duck! You didn't know if he was telling another hunting story or if a slab was flying toward your head.

Now you know why I call him Duck Hunting Johnny. (15 man limit)

Chad held is own, he also caught almost every species of fish in the lake.

Anyways, Chad, Johnny and I had a good day in the Plum Thicket and the BS was just as thick, all day long!

3 limits.

Guffy, you should gone with us!

Tommy, those two guys are duck Nuts. When they set the hook, instead of saying "Fish", it was "Take em!" They also calculated the lead on every water turkey that flew anywhere near us.

They are Plum Nuts about swinging crappies over the rail, now I just need to teach them a little control. My motor has dings and crappie slime all over it. Still trying to figure that one out.

I don't know if I ever been in any deeper BS, that was getting thrown around. Good times.

Here's the crappie cookout that got the whole thing started.

While flying into my next lake adventure I was seated next to the Cabelas video ad production team. Once we touched down, I opened my phone and followed the link that showed the write up Kirk had completed while we were in airplane mode and out of touch. I'd been watching this guy edit videos of deer products, Under Armor and goose decoys all flight. Once the satellites linked up and I had service the photos started to load, crappie everywhere. This guy yanked out his ear buds and immidetly asked about all them fish. Says he hadn't seen anything like it. So I showed him a few more and he was shocked to say the least. Once we arrived at baggage claim he was still telling his buddies about it and trying to show them how wide I had to hold the stringer out, but he had the wingspan of duck huntin Johnny. They then proceeded to load 8 pelican indestructible cases on a cart and off they went.

I offered Kirk to have em aboard, but he said he'd have to get a bigger boat for all that gear. He also said them Cannon cameras might not be able to handle the slime, dents and dings that Johnny and I caused.

Thanks for the trip Kirk, Johnny and I appreciated it. It was a good thump. Glad a few fish ran into our hooks.
