I had noticed on this forum that Carlos lived in the same city as me so I made a call to meet him. We spoke on the phone a couple times and I arranged a fishing trip with him. Today I met Carlos for the first time and he and I joined Larry "Lenahorse" for an afternoon trip on Tawakoni. Carlos has never in his lifetime caught a hybrid or a striper. Larry took us to the first spot and it was fish on! Not only did Carlos catch couple of nice sized hybrids but he lands this twelve pounder on a slab that I had given him. We ended with 13 on the clicker, all returned to swim some more. Thanks Larry, you did a great job as "guide" today and once again taking me fishing.

Ron is super nice guy. Always willing to lend a hand.
Were you guys primarily slab fishing? or using live bait? The reason I ask is because Twak has been off and then on again for me with artificials lately. I want the birds to start going bananas so I can chunk sassys at them.

No live bait all lures, no birds. This one was on a slab. It was about a 50-50 mix on slabs and sassy shads. My 2nd cast on a salt water Cordell Hot Spot I had a very good striper.

Phill, we caught them all on slabs or swim baits "sassys" in 26 foot of water. There were no birds working. Saw only one surface school but they only stayed up a short time. Live bait does produce more fish but me and Larry prefer artificials. Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Thank you Larry and Ron for taking me to those secret spots of Tawakoni, you guys rock! caught four hybrids along with the big striper, got them on the shad swimbaits and slabs; the very first hybrid pull so hard and so unexpectedly I almost fell off the boat... what a fun fishing day!
