I walked into Gander today looking for a fish finder. They are currently running a special for $129.00
Humminbird PMAX 175
Spinning reel rod combo
Tackle bag
Sounds great. I want to use in on my kayak. Anyone have any opinions about the Humminbird 175?
I don't want to waste money if there is one betterin the 100-200 range.

It's hard to beat the Lowrance Elite 4x CHIRP right now. $199 with a $50 rebate. Just got mine hooked up and I love it. You won't find a better unit for close to that price.

humming bird pirhanamax is low on the totem pole, if you can afford 50 dollars more, even if it takes a few weeks to save up, get the lowrance. just make sure to do so before the $50 rebate ends. i bought the elite 4 chirp w/gps navionics, its 130 more but the gps is worth the extra dough. especially for kayak fishing imo.

Agree that GPS is invaluable but I don't like splitting the screen on such a small unit. I have the Navionics app on my phone and use that on the water.

I got the Mark 4 Chrp for $200 with gps at Cabela's. I'm not sure how to work this thing just yet, but I am happy with it.

Lowrance Elite 4-CHIRP
Is there a big difference in color to the black & white version.
Academy has the color for $299, the BW for $199
Being on a kayak how well can you really see it with the sun?
Both have the $50 rebate from Lowrance.
It's getting confusing. They have too many versions of the 4

I have the elite 4 chirp with GPS and love it! Sure the screen cold be bigger but it's a awesome little unit! Sun is not a problem at all! Mines color. I can see it fine setting or standing!
