stator should put out AC voltage. it should also show continuity between windings but not to ground. find where the stator wires go to, likely the power pack, and alligator clip some leads to each wire, then crank the motor over. should be alot of voltage. I know an 8 horse merc knocked my neighbor to his knees, I was cranking it and thought he said go, but he said hold it.
are u not getting spark on all cylinders?

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Check for loose flywheel magnets other than that you need a peak reading voltage meter or adapter to do some output tests. Cdi ignitions website should have the tools and instructions on their site if you want to go that route. Just got check resistance then peak output voltage.

If you want to throw parts at I may have a good used one I can sell you, would have to look in my garage.

It is possible you got a bad rectifier or stator. Test them.
