The reason I am asking is I have been given a rare opportunity to spend a day at FRINGE Tackle next week learning about soft plastics. Jeff and I will be pouring in my molds to see what we can make and which techniques will work best.

I wanted to hear from other hand pour guys to see which mold was the hardest for them and any special problems I may encounter?

Okay, so let me say first of all, I am envious. That guy's a genius. I pour a few things for myself. I have no interest in selling worms. I have a few simple molds (4-inch worms, beaver mold, small swimbait mold). The worm molds are the hardest to pour. It's the smallest target, and the least room for error. I would love to get good enough to do 3 layers per worm, but it takes much more control than I have. I enjoy playing around with colors, but with the small quantities of plastic that I'm dealing with, consistent color is very difficult. Anyway, soak it all up.

Ahoy Skeeter.
I am kind of a newbie to hand-pouring. Worked on a hotplate for a year and now working with
a microwave using re-melts. This a ministry I have placing in bags and passing them along to
others with verse on them. I have various worms, swim baits, craws, critters, shrimp tails
and just picked up a hand pour shrimp body.
I have been picking up scrap plastics from fellows that sell their plastics.
Good to hear from some other hand-pourers. fish

I'm an old school hand pourer. I melted plastic first on the kitchen stove in 1975. I bought a "worm table" from a tackle shop in Mineral Wells. They had bought it from John Foxes lure company. It was a home made plywood table that used heat lamps for heating the plastic. Forty years have passed and I've modified my worm table several times but still use the original heat lamp fixtures. I still pour things I can't buy. Here is a pic of my setup. This is superior to microwave heating for several reasons.
worm table
some baits
swim bait

I inject plastics with a hand injector, but it's all crappie stuff, so I don't check this spot in the bass forum too often. I also add hardener to the point that my baits are harder than what anyone one else would do here, so I really probably don't have much to contribute that would help anyone else.

Longhorn, I'm curious what you do with the elmer's glue.

The Elmers Glue is used to seal plaster of paris molds, like the ones shown in a couple of my photos.

I was honored to be added to a very small group of hand pourers, 2 others, that know how to make this bait. Very labor intense but a very unique bait!! 4 color laminate hand pour in Tilapia. Going in my boat for a secret bait on Amistad and falcon!!
