Hey guys, I have a 2001 21' hawk boat with a merucry 225 efi. I have a jackplate, and a 25 prop. My hds is saying it is topping out around 55mph. Dies this sound resonable?

Not ever known as a fast hull, but I would think it should be running well into the 60's with that motor.

I have the same boat just a 99 model and a 225 mariner EFI, 4 blade prop, unknown of the pitch. I have had mine up to 70 when boat was empty when I bought it in 2005, can get about 63 to 65 tops now, But I hardly ever run faster than 45 anyways so top speed doesn't really bother me. I pulled all my injectors out a few years ago and had them tested then rebuilt and it made a world of difference. You may want to check into it, Its not hard to pull them out and install them yourself.

When I bought the boat the guy hadn't run it in a year or so. He put stabil and it helped but still had a lot of gunk. I had the fuel pump cleaned out since it was stopped up. Wasn't sure if it was a fuel pump or injector problem. If my hdi7 was right the first time I took it out it hit 66mph.

I had a 99 Hawk with a Mercury 200 Optimax and that boat would easily run mid 60's fully loaded and a couple of passengers.

You should be well into the 60's and your RPMs should be closer to 6k.

I have two props that came with the boat but they are the exact same. I need to find somebody and switch.

I think I'll start by adding some quickleen first. Then once I get back from vacation I can start going through the fuel pump and injectors.

I knew there was more to that mercury.

Took it out today. Topped out at 60 mph around 5500 rpms. However the take off was horrible. No power, I had to slowly ease into it or it would just bog down and never get in plane

You need to have someone check your set up,around 3.5 below,if its OK ,it should pull a 25p ,then you got a problem somewhere else, probably in fuel system
