I have never fly fished the salt and will be doing so in a few weeks in Sarasota, Florida. I am planning on fishing some deeper grass flats, canals, and the surf. I have heard that Clouser minnows and Crazy Charlies are very good, along with crab and shrimp patterns. I going to target snook, ladyfish, and pretty much anything that will swallow a fly along the shore. I have a 7-8 wt medium-fast action saltwater rod and reel with floating line. Any tips about good locations to fish in Sarasota, good flies and how to fish them, and how to fish canals, flats, and the surf would be greatly appreciated. Also, how would I setup my leader, shock tippet and all? What materials should I use for it?

Thanks guys!
