Taking my dad somewhere for his birthday Friday. Narrowed it down to Squaw Creek(close to home) and Lake Clark in Ennis(because we just always wanted to try it). Has anyone been since the warmer/drier weather? General tips? Thank you, 361V.

my fishing buddy told me it was tough out there right now, only a few small ones on top water before the sun gets up. Nothing after that.

I live here, and I'm not just trying to keep you away...but I wouldn't drive to fish Clark. I agree with lots of dinks before the sun gets up and then a few more later. I haven't caught a decent fish out there in a long time. 6 lbs on three fish won the Tuesday night tournament and I think that's fairly typical. It's a good looking little late, but not many quality fish are being caught to my knowledge.

Went last weekend, caught 18 on drop shot and Senkos. Went again tonight and caught 8, lost three on weightless Senkos( ran out of Roboworms and the TW order will not arrive till Friday). All over 14". Aaron's Pro Magic on the Robos and Watermelon w/ red flake on the Senkos. Use a 3/0 hook, cast it close to emergent grass lines, dead stick and twitch. Repeat.

Haha. Maybe I should ask off early on Tuesdays instead of Wednesday's. Does the guy that owns the radiator shop in Red Oak still run those tourneys?

Not a bad little lake. I haven't been in awhile but used to fish it almost weekly. Biggest fish I have caught and weighed out there was 8 pounds. Most of the year with the exception of spring I catch bigger fish by using a t-rig or crank around deep grass edges. Not emergent edges. For numbers fish a small soft swim bait around the emergent grass edges and hang on. Sounds like Steez was on a really good pattern though. It's not a great lake but not bad either.

I heard too much grass on top hard to get your trolling motor through it. I like the lake will hope the grass drops off a little before I go back.
