Went out Sunday morning and got a late start on the water, fishing by 9:30 AM. Started at Sun Point, there were 8 boats including me. Caught two baby stripers on a rattle-trap, one tiny hybrid on a slab. Things went dead so I headed over to the west side of the damn near the spillway. I noticed they were pulling water so I wondered if there would be any laid up in the current (assuming that generates a current). Caught another undersized striper on a striper-jig tipped with a chartreuse mister twister and not much else so I finally decided to break down and troll some hell-pets. Ended up with two keeper Hybrids, a few undersized, 6 sand bass, 3 tiny yellow bass, and a keeper crappie. That was my first crappie I've ever seen caught trolling. My fiance' has decided to go catch and release only so we ended up tossing back the crappie (dang it!) and the 18 hybrid.

The day of fishing was good, but my dinner was even better:

Pecan-wood grilled, blackened redfish seasoned, Hybrid on the half shell with sauteed mushrooms and garnished with a little fresh basil, mint, and green onion from the herb garden. Of course a healthy dose of melted butter and lemon. Add a side of grilled corn with poblano, red bell pepper, red onion, cilantro and lime, and a strawberry-pecan spinach salad. It sho' was good I guar an tee!

Tawokoni fishes very well even with the stained water.

Grilling or smoking that fish with the skin on sure does make difference! I'm hungry again just thinking about it!
