While I'm waiting on my pro advisor to call me back (😃)......

I'm looking to pick up a spinning rod for drop shot/shaky head fishin'. What rod do YALL prefer? I'll prob keep the purchase sub $100 so I know that eliminates some of the higher end rods.

For me that is two different rods but pick a brand that you like and buy their 7'M Spinning rod.

You will get 50 different suggestions here. The performance differences in this price point are negligible.

These rods were just released in May. For the price, they are fantastic rods. Try the 702SF

I can't comment on the rod, because I've used an NRX for most of the time I've been drop shotting. But I can recommend a great sub-$100 reel and that is the Shimano Sahara.

Denali makes a J2 Jadewood series spinning rod. 7' MH moderate fast #J2843SH. Can be used for shakey head and drop shot. Some guys prefer medium/moderate for drop shot but this will work for both. $99

Use a GLX rod here, got s great deal on it. That said, drop shot doesn't require a great rod. If done right, the bass hook themselves. And mostly they do it before you can as well. Doesn't need to be super sensative. Just capable of sending a tiny hook, tiny weight, and roboworm a little distance.

Sometimes I use my Falcon Light rod and a 1500 size reel. Just for fun. Catches them just as well.

I agree on the 2 seperate rod premise for drop shot and shakey head. Skeet's drop shot rod works really well for me in that purpose. I think you need more backbone for shakey head fishing because you don't have to do such a massive hook set for drop shot fishing. I have a ST. Croix Premier medium heavy I use for shakey head fishing. my 2 cents
