I haven't fished PC in a long time but this time of year I've spent a lot of time dragging a plum or red shad 10" worm on a c-rig, same bait on a Texas rig, and a 8'-10' deep diving crank bait.

the fisherman formerly known as Blu-Ranger....

I have done well shallow recently with a watermelon/red senko or black/blue rage craw, HOWEVER, last weekend I couldn't get any bite shallow and caught a 7 pounder in 8 feet of water running a black/red crankbait about 5 feet down, then some smaller ones same depth on a black/blue chatterbait.

I fished Purtis for 17 years, from 1988 to 2005.
I agree with Blu Ranger here.
Worms in the creek channel up near the island.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.
