Well, I walked all the way to Lewisville Lake today with the idea of fishing for sunfish (it's a long walk from Old Town to the lake in this heat, but it surely burned some blubber off of me). Just wanted to get out of the house and catch SOMETHING. Hadn't given thought to how much the lake is overflowing. Ended up fishing ON old Mill street and caught a couple sunfish. Kinda weird to catch fish ON a street.
Then on the way home, I tossed my line into a drainage ditch that runs under Cowan and Mill. Caught a surprising number of green sunfish there.
What are some of the odder places you've caught sunfish?

A while back I saw a ditch with run off water in it. The ditch was about a half mile away from a creek. I had a piece of worm left and I wanted to use it up so I baited my hook and tossed it in. To my surprise I caught a nice big Green. The fish was in the nine inch range and very fat. About two weeks later I went back to the ditch and caught a combo of Bluegill and Greens. It was not much longer the ditch dried up.

Last year I was at a friend of mines ranch just outside Hondo. It was his Dad's place. There was a stock tank at the end of a tree line. My friend said there would be no fish in it. I had my ultra light and baited a hook with some bacon. I ended up catching four Bluegill between 4 to 6 inches! It was a surprise to the both of us. I also caught two Bull Heads that were both about 7 inches.

Just my two cents.
