I've seen some guys in their 60's, and as long as one can paddle/peddle safely, and load or get help loading his yak!

One of the teachers I work with is 69. He is fishing out of a Tarpon 120 on a weekly basis.

Thanks for the replies. I have a friend that has a kayak and he is trying to talk me into getting one. I'm tempted, but am older and than the teacher you work with Sataro. I know I could load and unload one. Wouldn't need to make long runs where we fish. Decisions, decisions. Might get one.

I know one man in his 80s and a few in their 70s. It's about fitness and health, not age. I'm 65 and in the worst shape I've been in in my life (although I'm not in terrible shape), and I fish from my kayak all day every day I'm on the coast; we usually go for three to ten days at a time.
You only go around once. Might as well get dizzy.....

I have a friend 74 still going strong, like Jim said, it's all about fitness and health.

I'm 57 & debating on whether getting a kayak. Heart attack at 42 & over weight. Thinking this would be good exercise for me...

I am 67 and still fishing in my Kayak. Try out several and get one with a comfortable seat. The seat makes all the difference in the world. Also I paddled for the first three years and then started using my wife's peddle kayak, much easier on the body and much more fun. Don't buy the first one you try or buy one because the price is right (like I did). Try as many as you can before you buy. Good luck, they are a blast.

Jerry, not sure how much longer he can do it. I've already passed you up. I suspect I'll probably pedal out and scatter your ashes! I'm 60 and still going strong. Age is a state of mind. Don't let it stand between you and anything you think you want to do!

Don't let it stand between you and anything you think you want to do! At least you will be peddling! I agree with Jerry, I am 57 and try to go at least once a week. The only thing that gets to me is the heat. I just can't do it all day.

"The only thing that gets to me is the heat. I just can't do it all day." Just stick around for a while; the way things are going they'll be selling them with air conditioning and heated seats before long.......
