 First time striper fishing, need some advice!

Me and a buddy are going striper and catfishing on lake tawakoni, we will be catching fresh shad to use. But this is the first time I've been fishing for striper. If yall could give me some tips. Aka rod, reel, line? Anything so I'm prepared?! Thanks
