Taking the grandsons out tomorrow in the morning (9 and 5). Are the sandbass south of the I30 bridge this time of year? Thanks for any ideas.

Hope yall find them because we didn't today. It was as bad as I have seen in a long time. Between 3 of us we only put 18 fish in the boat from 6am-2pm. Most were Sandbass but also had two cats, one bass, and two crappie.

It was as bad as I have seen Hubbard in a very long time.

I didn't mark much yesterday. Heard it was tough this morning. I fished solo yesterday and scouted lots of areas too. It's different with the high water. But it may turn on tomorrow . It's fishing smile Good luck.

Found some very early, 6am till about 6:45 then only caught one fish and was off the water by 9:30...Saw sporadic top water but most were small fish. All my fish were caught in 1 to 5' of water.

Thanks guys! I believe that if we come back without anyone getting a hook stuck in them, we will call it a success! smile I could always just have the oldest drag a crank bait along the rocks. The youngest will just want to help me drive the boat. smile

I didn't want it to look like I was bragging.

Did better than i did Justin. Only got 7 . But they were big. They were moving fast today and scattered. Never could find a good school. I looked at several places all over the lake. But it was so hot i didn't get to look at a few more i wanted to. I ran out of time that is. It got HOT really quick and the boat traffic was the worst I've ever seen. Since all the other lakes are closed i guess everyone is coming to Hubbard. Jet ski mainia out there today --LOL--. I imagine it will be as bad or worse tomorrow traffic wise. several boats and jet fleas lined up to launch when i came in. The parking lot was completely full at Chandlers. I have never seen it like that. OMG
Few pics form min 7 --LOL--

Keith smile

The 9 year old caught 1 sandbass, but that is ok, we had a great time on the water. Spent most of my time untangling lines and hooks. We caught the 1 sandbass trolling a silver / blue rattle trap in front of the rock jetty from the power plant up to the peanut. There were several boats around the levy out from Robertsons park but no schooling. It got pretty hot and we came off the water by 11:00 after we ate some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches under the west I30 bridge by bass pro. Someone was considerate enough to leave some web straps tied around a few pilings so we were able to tie up under the bridge for lunch.

By the way, it's $20 to launch at Bay Harbor on the weekends but the ramps and docks are nicely kept there.

Also, I found out that Rattle traps are $6.79 now at Bass Pro. Man, I remember when you could get a 1/4 mini trap for $1.47. Now they come with Mustad hooks. I think $6.79 is pretty high for a rattle trap.

Cordell Spot almost the same thing at Walmart $2.27 here. You will not notice any difference.

I launched at Harbor bay and they were completely out of parking when we left. I had to wait in line for over 20 minutes to put the boat on the trailer. On top of that I had to wait in line going backwards because there was absolutely no place to turn around! LOL! I have been on Ray Hubbard on all of the big holidays before and never ever seen grid lock at that marina!

We caught most of our fish in the last hour (between 1-2). When we left you I think we had only caught 3 Sandbass at that time.

I saw that last time I was there. Buy them at Wal Mart or Academy. Don't remember the price but I do know they were much cheaper than BPS and they also have the good hooks as well.
