This morning is a KidFish event at Hurst Chisholm so I had to drive a little farther to my favorite local creek. The morning is bright, clear and hot. So is the bite. I caught bluegills, longears and greens one after the other. The fish are spawning and in their beautiful colors. The bluegill were 6 inches long. They made me think there were larger ones if I could just find them. The longest green was almost 8 inches.

To cap it off I caught the biggest bullhead I have seen in a while.

The creek is full, with only a small flow - just right for fishing. The water is stained but not muddy.

All fish were returned to the water. After two hours I got hot and tired and quit.

Looks like an easy place to fly fish too. Great fish and pictures.

Very nice variety of sunfish. Nice catch "Smithaven"!

Side Note: Are they still spawning in your area? Also how are the creek and lake conditions?

The lakes are all still out of their banks and more or less useless for bank fishing. The water is muddy.

The sunfish are definitely still spawning.
