I wanted to vent just a little here. Yesterday evening I was involved in a nice little boat show at Richland Chambers. The water was boiling and fishing was great. This started about 7pm. A fish almost every cast. (Big Fish too) The first pontoon came to within 50 yds of us. Killed his engine and drifted into the action. (good job whoever you were) Then a large pontoon just pulled right in the middle of all the catching, motor running, shifting from forward to reverse (we all know how that sounds). The bite was GONE! The fish hauled butt!! Has this happened to any of you all before? Did it tick you off like it did me? I waited ALL day yesterday from 7am to 7pm before I even got a bite. Just for it to be ruined by one person. I'd love to know how you all handled similar things. Hopefully people will see this and try their hardest to either troll into a show like this or drift into them. I'm not trying to be mean in this post but someone has to educate the masses. Thanks for listening.

1.) Welcome to the TFF

2.)I've been reading this very post, by probably 30% of the guys that post
here, myself included) for more than 10 years.

Educating the masses? good luck with that.
The fact you're posting the
biggest complaint of sandbass guys, more than 10 years later, in the same place,
means it doesn't work.
You just gotta be the bigger person sometimes. pull over & nicely attempt to
educate them & make them more effective anglers.
throw 'em a bone, (spot, lure, trick, etc)
if that doesn't work, & they still wanna be @#$%
sink their boat. roflmao roflmao bannana2

After years of fishing for Whites and doing so both "In and Out" of Boat Shows, I've figured there are several things you can do and maintain your cool. They are:

* Fish on Weekdays
* Grin and Bear It and Keep on Catchin' as there's no use in confronting someone over a fish.
* Go somewhere else and find another school of fish.
* Just throw a nice compliment to the Pontoon Fishermen as they probably have never had anyone do this. Might startle them so much they'll turn the motor off and enjoy themselves.

I think the bigger issue is there's just too much anger vented up from a week at work, home, school, etc. and it comes out in a place it shouldn't and that's on the lake. Enjoy yourself as life's too short!

Good Luck and Good Fishin'!

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Move a few hundred yards away in a bunch of trees or brush. Throw out a bunch of crackers and get the birds working. Roll back over to your spot and then yell loudly "the birds are working over ther! Did you see that fish jump out of the water". Watch then get hung up in the trees and enjoy the show.

Wait a minute. I have a pontoon and have been fishing stripers and sandbass since 1981. First let me say that usually it is someone with a ski boat or bass boat that comes running in. Guides get a call from some of their buds about bigger fish somewhere, and they crank up and leave. The guy that said all you can do is live with it is right. You can not educate people that have their own agenda. Also if you have good electronics just put on a slab and look around, they don't usually go very far. I was on Texoma with my daughter and we had fish surfacing all around us. No one in site. A guide comes around Washita and sees us, pulls right up in the middle of the fish and starts slabbing. I was a lot younger then and used some really bad words. Their are lots of good guides and other good fisherman on the lakes, but it just takes one a!@@#$ to mess it up for everyone. I have learned to live with it and move on. Oh by the way, I had just paid that guide $300 for a trip 6 months before. He is dead now, but I didn't kill him. LOL fish

I have had more problems with a guy driving some type of go fast boat flying through the middle of all the fishing boats.

Was this Thursday night? I was out there saw a couple boats on the 309 flats right near sunset. This was well after 7. But if it was me, I apologize. I drove by slowly, didn't see any catching going on. But stopped in for a few minutes. There was another pontoon that came flying in shortly after. Again if it was me, I apologize. I'm not out there to get in anyone's way. Just out to have fun and forget about work.

Having said that, I fish out there quite often (2-3 times per week) and stuff like that happens to me. I have been catching hybrid on multiple occasions and a guide boat will pull in his clients will cast right over my line multiple times. Usually what I do is give their line a couple small tugs. Then one big tug and watch the fun!! This has happened To me more than once. I just try to make the best of every time I get on the water.

I try my best to stay out of everyone's way. But must have failed to this time!!

We had the same thing at Tawakoni yesterday with the trolling, we just left it to them and caught our own fish. A funny thing happened, the spot we wanted to fish was occupied by another boat, in while they politely moved, we went there and almost instantly we were on fish, they just sat and watched us.
