Is there any marinas or bait shops that sell live shad at PK? All of the ones I have found numbers for don't carry them. I'm not handy enough with a cast net yet to get them on my own.

Since you sorry suckers aren't answering me grin, I've gone out in the yard and practiced with the throw net a bit. Not sure I can do it from the bow, but gonna give it a shot. But, if anyone thinks of a place that has live shad as a backup, let me know.

Thanks

Nobody sells live shad. If you don't have a good circular aerated tank the shad won't stay alive long enough to mess with.

The boat has a good live well with aerator. That'll work eh?

Being brief:
Net shad and put into a bucket of lake water first for a minute or two for them to release toxins and scales
Put a good handful or two of non-iodiazed salt in live well
Don't over crowd with too many shad...a dozen or two in a typical livewell depending on how big the shad are
Keep livewell running
It is the warm water that will kill the shad the quickest

A table spoon of bait saver will help also. I use my live well, but I put an extra pump in it to circulate air and water. I usually can keep 50 shad alive for 6 or 7 hours. I have a bait tank, but they are a pain in the butt for old people. There are some good videos of how to throw a cast net on u=tube. I bought a video from Cabelas several years ago.
