Benbrook is 15.70 feet above the conservation level according to the Texas Water Data website. I drove to the Benbrook Marina off of Hwy. 377 this afternoon to check it out. They have their ramp open and are charging $5 to launch. The area in and around the west end of the lake is pretty well underwater, picnic tables are under water and a lot of the areas where there are trees have water several feet deep. For the next several weeks this might be a good area to fish and the wind will have little impact in the flooded area on the west side of the lake because of the trees. Benbrook never has been a great bass lake but there are bass in there and I have seen several around the 10 pound range come out of the lake. If anyone else is fishing out there please give us an update on the fishing.

Good news! Wonder how long until they drop the level too far again?!

I am not sure how long they will leave Benbrook at this level. The last few times I have driven by the discharge they are not letting much at all out. I think because of the water coming over the spillway at Lake Worth and Eagle Mountain they may be taking it easy on the folks downstream like in Dallas where the Elm Fork and the West Fork come together and then South of Dallas the East Fork joins the river.

A buddy and I fished it on Monday. We caught 2 small sandies and a cat a piece fishing with minnows. We tried a few lipless cranks and spinner baits but had no luck. There was a [censored] load of grass washed up in that area that made fishing with lures a pain in the butt.

Planning on going after work and trying the fly rod back in the same area. I'll let you know how it goes.

We went for a few hours this afternoon and fished the flooded area around Benbrook Marina but didn't get a bite. Still a lot of debris floating on the water. It will be a while before it settles down.
