I would like to venture into hybrid bass fishing. I live real close to hubbard and fish the lake regularly. I have caught hundreds of sand bass but I don't have much luck finding hybrids. Where would I begin to look for them? Would it be more productive to fish with shad or minnows or throw a slab?thanks

Shad are most productive. Might be a little early for my best spots. East bank between Yankee Creek and the dam, gravel pits near dam, and mid lake levies. I have had some good luck at the red barn point too at times.

Keep in mind that there are a ton of 16-17" hybrids being caught now and people are throwing them in the box. I don't know if they just don't know any better or if it's intentional but the Game Warden won't care when he writes tickets. $250 a fish. That would get real expensive real quick. Heads up!

Good. There are at least 5 boats that do it all the time and know better. if they wrote more tickets for poaching on a consistent basis I bet they could hire 5x more officers. Glad to see them on my home lake for sure.

Do the hybrids and sand bass school pretty well this time of year there?

Do the hybrids and sand bass school pretty well this time of year there? little early especially with the cool May. Sandies were running the banks a couple of weeks ago with the shad spawn. There are times you will catch the hybrids schooling at Hubbard but I prefer to structure fish. The hybrids do not seem to school on top at Hubbard like they do at Tawok.
