Going to port a jettys next weekend any advice on whats hitting and what to use

I fished the north Jetty at Port A for years and although I haven't gone back for a while...

I trimmed down my load until in the end I carried a rod, fishing belt, a long stringer and a couple of silver spoons. I would take the first boat (06:00 back then)in the morning and cast the spoon on the surf (north side) until 9:00 AM or so. Lot's of trout in the first hundred yards of water on the surf side in the morning.

Later in the summer I would carry a big shallow diving black Rapala with a short wire leader and catch King Mackerel, much farther out and often in the hottest part of day. That's a hoot on inshore tackle.

I also fished for Sheepshead between the boulders. Lots of fun and tons of fish. Of course, you can catch just about anything out there.

Went last October and caught a lot of bull reds in the surf going next weekend to see what is swimming around herd of a lot of sheep's and reds not to much specks hope the fresh water from the rain does not push them to far out its a double tide so I hope that helps

No need to worry about the rain pushing the trout out of the jetties. The mid to lower coast is not in jeopardy of any of that. Uppercoast has seen the upper bays being completely fresh.. most fish are being caught under the freshwater where salt is pushing under it around mid bay reefs. Freshwater is less dense than saltwater and rides the top of the water column (unless volume is high enough like in Trinity bay right now to force the salt in the lower column to be further into the middle or lower sections of Galveston Bay.

Trout have been good on topwater in the surf.. Skitter walks, One Knockers, Spook juniors.. Plastics, and slow sinkers like mirrodines and catch 5's. any natural color in clearer water will do the trick.
