I have a pretty good idea of what I would think of as essential tackle and lures for light tackle striper fishing from the bank - as in Texoma.
What is your favorite light tackle (rod & reel) option for stripers?
What are your favorite light tackle striper lure options - for surfacing and non-surfacing fish?

I sure hope someone responds. I am especially curious on the lures.

Mepps aglia, bomber slab, ole ugly slab, bomber med diver solid white. Thos are what I use from the banks. Im sure others use better stuff, but these are my tried and true for both boat and bank. I use a 6'6" lightning rod with a pinnacle reel or a 7' team diawa rod with a cabelas prestige spinning reel. 10lb line.

A 6 and 8 wt fly rod throwing anything that looks like a shad. For conventional tackle, I've always had luck using a 7 ft spinning rod, 8-12 lb test line with jigheads tipped with baby pearl white flukes or Berkly gulp minnows. Non weight Super Flukes or red and white poppers for surface action.
