I fish Benbrook almost 100%. I went to Navarro mills one time last year. Benbrook is about 7 miles from my house, and sometimes I will go as much as 3 times a week fishing for crappie. yesterday I took my boat out to Benbrook and it was hard to believe it is the same lake. lots of water. when I went near the trees where I thought the bank was I could not see where the water ended. deep water everywhere. did not catch any fish not even a bite. I have a friend who lives in grapevine and I have been talking to him about going crappie fishing all spring. well he is coming Friday. I am not excited at all about going to Benbrook. so I thought about lake Granbury and trying to catch some sand bass near the dam. can anyone give me some advice? I checked the lake levels and Granbury is about normal level. is the water muddy or clear. would appreciate any help? thanks.

I went through Granbury Monday and the lake looks extremely muddy from the 377 bridge. There is lots of floating wood on the lake as well. I would be surprised if it clears by Friday. I would think the shallows in Richardson slough would be loaded with bass! Pitch worms or throw big bladed spinner baits and I would think the bass will be working the shallow flooded vegetation.
Good luck!

Granbury did get some striper fingerings this week, I know that doesn't help you now and I hope we got some of those PK stripers as well. Hopefully be good in a few year's, lol.

I was told Granbury was closed to boat traffic. Is that not true?

thanks pastor Terry. that will save me a trip to lake Granbury. I assume the lake is muddy all the way to the dam. you are making Benbrook look better. and also thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I have felt for all you Granbury fishermen over the last few years because of the lack of water. I know it has been tuff. I have talked with a few of you when you had to make the trip to benbrook to find a least a little more water. of course we know this flood will help us in the future. I have quit praying for rain and I have also stopped doing my rain dance. hope that helps.

Launched by the dam yesterday evening, had to clear debris from the ramp to do so, water is chocolate milk with lots of small floaters and the occasional large one. Marked very few to no fish on that end of the lake. Maybe in a week things will get back on track.
