Anybody use a chrimping set to make salt water rigs? I have read that is it supposed to be stronger than knots. do you think this is true?

Like everything it depends on what you are crimping, how you are crimping and several other factors.

I like a snell knot on circle hooks and an albright to join braid to leader. PR knot is best for that if you have time. If your using wire leader use a haywire. If its braided wire you will need to chrimp....
