Thanks, I keep googleing lake closures, but haven't found anything that's up to date. I live next to Lake Lewisville and was hoping to find some new fishing buddies closer to home! My father in law lives near Ray Hubbard, he's usually up for some fishing, but he's not to keen on kayaking!

I usually go to Lake Grapevine, but haven't been this year because of the weather clashing with my schedule, so I am unsure of how the parks and parking are. Fingers crossed for this weekend.

I saw a bunch of people launching from the pull over at the 380 overpass of lewisville. game warden even launched his boat there. But I dont know if its ok or not?? one guy said the kayaks were ok since they dont make a wake and dont go fast enough to have problems with floating hazards.??

Kayaks are fine on LL. It is only closed to power boats. This this is not true. Lake lewisville is closed to all boat traffic. Nothing or no one is allowed on the water in any type of craft. We launched last weekend at the 380 launch and they were surveying the water etc. Take your chances if ya want but they will fine you.

Lewisville is closed to all boats, checked corps of engineers website for lewisville. Grapevine is open, is there any good places to put in? I'm sure there are some park and road closures....

I was actually curious about this very topic. Finally bought my kayak and wouldn't you know it, the closest lake to me (also Lewisville) closes to all boating traffic. Anyone know of a safe place on Grapevine one might be able to put in at? I've not been out to that lake in 15+ years.

I live between lewisville and grapevine - if your looking to launch from the north side of grapevine you do have some nice and easy options. 1) Though I might end up regretting posting this - there is a spot on the north side that is perfect for kayaks right now. I swung by with my wife to look at it yesterday. North Short Trail Head - Murrell Park - This is normally well away from the lake... but the water is literally 10 feet from the gate right now and there is a small gravel (15-20 car) parking area right by the gate. The road there basically makes it a perfect kayak launching spot - for no charge - and no competition from boats. 2) murrell park is closed but they do let you walk in - and the water is only about 100 feet from the gate. Its a bit of a mess parking right outside as it was never designed for it - but you can and people are. I don't know if the rangers or town are fining anyone for it. If anyone is interested I'm hoping to get out on grapevine from the north trail head spot for the first time Saturday morning for a few hours. PM me if you want to get together for a bit

What are you fishing for and do you have to go to a lake? Several cities let kayaks on the park lakes. I've been sticking to smaller bodies of water since the flooding.

Initually I was told it only applied to power boats.
