A few family members have them and they love them, they are trying to convince me to buy them, after buying some cheap Abu Garcia's.

I have about 5 of them plus a couple other Johnny Morris reels. Never gave me a problem and are good for the price.

I had 2 of the combos. My 5:4:1 was giving me problems where the handle wouldn't engage all the way after a cast. Took it back yesterday and was an even trade for the newer white Carbonlite combo. Other than that I've had no issues and love the reels. They cast great and reel smooth. Ready to try out the newer one and see if there is any difference. To your question, I would not hesitate at all to buy this reel at this price, well worth it. I personally would go with the 6:4:1, I felt the 5:4:1 was painfully slow, even for that ratio.

I've owned one for the past two years and it has been flawless.

who does repair work on them? Not sure. I'd only had mine for about 8 months. Took it back to Bass Pro and replaced it with the newer series combo.

who does repair work on them? who does repair work on them? Nobody. When they start to wear, you throw them away. Or take them back and exchange them. Lol.
