 quick question about preserving lead jig

I just bought 300 lead jigs to Ty at some point in the future. It will take some time to use them. What do you guys do to keep them in good shape. Paint? is there anything else to keep them in the nice state they are now?

I usually PC right away but I use a white primer coat under almost everything, If I were wanting to keep them from tarnishing, I would store in a mason jar with some inert atmosphere (freon or propane) to force the air out

If you want shiny lead, I would powder coat with clear now. If you are going to paint a color later, tarnish does not matter.

I never do anything to mine and they hold up fine, but they stay in a good dry container for each size and each hook size. Maybe it has to do with where I get mine because of his mix, but they stay shinny for a pretty long time. Even the older ones are not all that bad and have not got very dark and for sure have not oxidized! The guy I buy from does use something in his mix that makes them a little shinier than most I see and they stay like that pretty much. I have thousands right behind me right now and some have been there for years and still are just fine for painting.

They should be HMK, I just never worried about his. Guy I use to get them from would turn fairly fast to a dull gray, but Paul's seem to stay nice! I do hand file any that have little imperfections he may have missed when he cleaned them up after pouring!
I am pretty sure I have some of his over 4 years old and while they may not be quite as shiny, they are plenty good to go!

For what it's worth a crappie's brain is probably about the size of a grain of rice if I was guessing, I highly doubt he cares if your jig head is tarnished a bit. You're giving the fish more credit than he deserves if you think they are going to notice an off colored jig and they are in feeding mode. Pretty shiny bright flashy colorful jigs catch a lot more fishermen than fish in most cases so don't over think it.
