Black & Decker from Walmart. $13.50. Cleans fish way better than most of the high price junk on the market. When it wears out go get another one. thumb

Definitely American Angler but I like the old gray and black one better than the new orange one they make now.

Enough said! Just make sure they are the 8" shark blades and not the 10".

Personally, I throw away the stock blades that come with the Orange knife.

AMerican angler 12v was my favorite all time knife ... they'd last longer than 7 rapala or berkley thin handled knives.. I've got to have the 12v knife as I have to clean the fish out on the lake and since Pure Fishing has bought out most of our fishing supply companies they've messed a lot of things up because they're in it for the profit and outsourcing all kinds of stuff to china and the 12v american angler knife has bit the dust and hard to find ... I think I bought the last ones there was available but pure fishing had american angler parts in their fat handled 12 v red and black knife .. the motor and gears are the same as the old american angler but it seems like they've discontinued those too as there's a problem with those wearing the cord in two at the base of the knife in just a short while. I had to take mine apart and rewire them and put shrink tube on the cord so they'd stop wearing out.

If you go through a lot of blades you should sharpen your old ones ... I've been doing that for years using a muslin buff wheel on my bench grinder and use polishing compound to polish the blades sharp ... now I also use my dremel tool to alter the new berkly fat handle knife blades and put a better bevel on the teeth so they sharpen and stay sharp longer then use the 1"x1/4" dremel wool buffing/polishing wheel to buff each individual tooth and I get them sharper than any factory blade like that. Got to be careful not to heat the blades up with the dremel tool bits though ... I use the chainsaw sharpener bit or the cone shaped bits to change the angle of the teeth so they're like 30 degrees instead of the original 45 to 50 degrees they are at when you first buy them ... they dull quickly right out of the package but once altered they stay sharp quite a while. I've also used my dremel cutting tool blades to alter the old american angler blades I've got so they work in my newer berkly knives... I found some new ones in ponca city walmart so I stocked up on them ... got 5 news ones and had two in my boat so I'm fixed for knives for a while. got about 12 blades for those knives now and super sharp .. they are too sharp for a while as they cut through the skin real easy until they dull a little bit but after they dull just a little the old american angler blades repurposed for the berkley knives will stay sharp through about 15 to 20 fishing trips and I normally on average clean around 20 fish per trip... lots more than that sometimes but I clean a lot of fish and can't just go buy new blades when they get dull else that'd be a major expense ... the rapala and thin handle berkley knives are the same knife an just have the names changed as pure fishing owns both companies ... they just slapped the berkley name on the rapala knives which are junk unless you're cleaning crappie or something like that and they still don't last very long and don't have near the power or as long of stroke as the berkley/american angler 12v knives. But if you want to you can sharpen those old blades real easy with your dremel tool ... it takes time but to me it's like knitting ... I just don't end up with a bunch of aphgans laying around or knitted coasters to give out to relatives I don't like on christmas hahaha. Instead I keep myself in sharp fillet knife blades ... it's my "at home hobby"

I tried the black and decker knife and it lasted for 3 fish and quit. I also bought a saltwater Mr. Twister knife and it lasted about 60 fish before it quit working right. I have an american angler knife that I bought 20 years ago and I have cleaned at least 1500 fish with and it still works. I only paid $20 for it back then. I am trying new knives because I know my 20 year old knife can't last forever, but I have tried 4 other knives and they don't compare. I guess I am going to have to pay $125 for a new American angler, but I don't think they are as good as they used to be.

Best is usually w matter of opinion. That being said, I really like the Rapala knife. It has a 15' or so cable with a cigarette lighter plug in and comes with adapters to plug into a wall outlet or to a boat battery. It also comes with 2 blade sizes.

What I like about it is I can use it anywhere. I usually plug into my truck lighter and fillet on a piece of Teflon on my tailgate. I've been told they're made by mister twister but I don't know.

I've been through several over the years, but I'm not exactly easy on any equipment.

Others I've used work fine, but I like the convenience of the features mentioned
