Will be coming to Palestine soon, from Arizona.I have read about bad hidden hazards under the water on the lake.Do I need to be concerned with the lake being full?Is there a good map I can buy or website that gives locations of the hazards?Never been there. Will be putting in at the The Villages ramp.
Thanks!

Lots of stumps, no boat lanes just be careful up North around Cades and Kickapoo creeks.

Plenty of Hazards, if you use the search feature there are several threads with good info.

That being said coming from Arizona to fish Palestine in early June I'm sure you are coming for TTT championship. Just follow the line of boats that make a hard right at takeoff if you want to fish Kickapoo

If you don't know the lake and are going north of The Villages, my advice would be to idle. I've lived in Tyler for almost 20 years and that's what I do, especially around and north of the high line.

The problem is with the lake high all the timber north and south of the bridge is under water and everything looks like its wide open running. But its not.

You've got that right. I was out there this weekend and there were people running in areas that made me cringe bad.

South of 155 is open to run for the most part but there are still some areas with underwater timber. Going north with no experience on Palestine is asking for trouble. Try to follow someone or get with someone who knows the lake prior to your tourney.

Kickapoo ramp last month at full pool.

Behind spillway this past Saturday.

Hope you catch a bunch!

If you have never been to Palestine before and you are going up North make sure your boat insurance is paid up.

Everyone has been emphasizing the NORTH region ( Kickapoo ) as having all the hazards..

just know that they are ALSO South too. One of our Club members hit a stump in Saturday's Club Tournament and lost a Lower unit, skeg, etc.. he was south close to the Dam in one of the coves on the West side.
