I'm tired of just using stink bait and worms and occasionally some cut bait. Need something that will get me a big ol mess of cats food Any ideas on what I could do? I want to try chicken livers or something called muddy river chicken liver chum bait, maybe some hot dogs, anything else? Wouldn't mind any recipes either

Buy some chicken breast
Clam juice
Turkey sirenge
Cut into chunks and fill chunks with
Clam juice and let soak .
Doesn't stink, stays on hook
And blues love it.

I've tried soaking overnight with clam juice instead of injecting, and I had good action on it.

Some people swear by soaking chicken breast in Dead Red. I read on here that Fishing Professor dumped his shad out one trip because they kept kitting the chicken breast instead of his shad. Is that an anomaly? Sounds like it ought to be, but I don't know. I do know that chicken breast is a lot more expensive than free shad though. I hate getting salmonella all over everything too, but sometimes you don't have shad or time to get shad.

I think chicken breast is a good winter time bait. I was told by a very reliable person that it can outfish shad in the winter. I think shad is the best bait for spring and summer...although the big blues might be spawning so punch bait might be your best bet for a couple of weeks.
