With all of this flooded, chocolate milk mess in Texas, what is your strategy for beating the banks the next few weeks?
I live the the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and it all looks bad (ponds, lakes, creeks). Also, any ponds, lakes, and creeks tied to upstream reservoirs releasing water for the next couple of weeks, is it really going to get any better any time soon???
How are YOU fishing this stuff, and are you having any success? If so....with what?

Honestly I have no plans to venture out until it dries out. Mosquitos and chiggers are nuts right now and most places I fish has grass that's waste high since it can't be mowed. Not to mention the snakes!

Yeah, I hear ya. My brain's telling me to leave it alone for a few weeks, but my heart's saying "Dude, it's been a MONTH since you've done any fishing. Get back out there!"

Boots and pants will take care of the snakes and chiggers. Fish the flooded grass with jigs and soft plastics. If you are familiar with the location, try the area where the bank was before the flooding. That will now be a nice drop off for the fish.
fatty has more posts than you. I have more beer in my garage right now than you!

Btw, the Mosquitos are out in force and hungry. Make sure to spray yourself well.

I've been fishing straight through the breaks in weather....and let me tell you that it's been great for me! About 3 weeks ago I picked up a new (to me) Grande Bass craw that looks like a frog in watermelon w candy red flake. Rigged Texas style-I couldn't stop catching! The only place I can find them is at Dick's.
Anyway, Because of the cleared up skies today I decided to go with a white and chartreuse Chatterbait w a bluegill Zoom swim bait trailer. Caught two 4 pounders in 20 minutes. After a while I went old school and threw a gray and chartreuse H&H spinner and would up with several more 1-2 pounders.
Moral of the story - a can of deep woods Off and tolerance of the rain has made this one of the best post spawn periods I have fished!
Good luck to all and I hope you get out there soon! My lines are tight, hope yours are too!

Bring a life jacket and a machete. I've seen more snakes in the last week than I had in the previous several years. Fishing is probably going to be really slow for the next month, til the water levels start to normalize and clear up. I'm going to be doing a lot of flipping against the heaviest cover I can find and fishing painfully slow. Sounds like fun huh.

Like what said earlier boots and pants and you should be alright. I walked the banks of the Trinity last weekend and caught several nice bass flipping and pitiching to all the new shallow grass with a jig. They can be caught a variety of ways right now. Fish still gotta eat!

I've been fishing almost every evening...throw a frog. Flip a T-rig beaver, Weightless senko, top water baits like crazy.
Just remember the fish gotta eat!! With the milky water I've been using black and blue/purple everything.
Have some fun. Wear pants and long sleeves like mentioned.

Pond hopped yesterday and caught 9 bass. Most were very small...only two close to 2 pounds. The water everywhere was muddy, but they seemed to like a craw popping slow. I'm looking forward to dry days.

For the last month or so I have been catching them shallow, regardless of weather the water is relatively clear or the color of chocolate milk. I've been using topwater lures fished parallel to the bank, with the most catches coming in stretches of ponds that have a quick drop off into deeper water (6 inches to 2-3 feet). It seems the bass are sitting at the base of the drop off and coming up and hitting the topwater.
