Have a 2012 Alumacraft Competitor on a road runner trailer that I bought new in July 2012 from Eagle Marine.
The boat is fine but the trailer(2009 model year) is making me nervous every time I take the boat out. I should have looked closer on the trailer when I bought it (big mistake on my part ).

Here are list of things that make me very uncomfortable and need advice on what should I do other than getting a new trailer.
1. The width between two fender is not wide enough so the boat is sitting on top of the fender in stead of cradle in between fenders.
2. It has vertical bunk instead of flat one. (its a pain to load the boat)
3. Added some washer to the nuts to tighten the nuts to the u-bolt. Some of them still easily loose/movable. What can I do to make is more secure.
4. The trailer length is a little short for this 16'7" boat so the tongue weight is heavier than normal.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

That doesn't make any sense. It should be just the opposite.

Isn't the axle of the trailer is the pivot point ? The weight of the boat in front of the axle divided by the length in front of the axle plus the weight behind the axle is transferred to the tongue. So, if my trailer is a few inches longer, the tongue weight should be less. Is it correct ?
