Bird nest with a 4oz hard enough to break 30 lb mono line and you will be re spooling......I've heard...but yea I can get most mono tangles out usually.

Better to stab yourself in the kitchen than on the middle of the lake I guess.

Ive had some bad birdnests. Some come out some don't. I thank the Lord I have never nested my reels with braided line more than a single loop or two... that would be a nightmare!

Braid is usually game over once that first loop cuts down deep into the spool. One of the reasons I don't like braid.

I have spent a long time with braid "backlashes of death". With mono I can almost always use a needle nose to pull it out.

But in general I don't let people that don't know what their doing cast my baitcasters. I either do it for them or bring some spinning reels.

Here's a tip some might not know of. When you get a backlash, hold your thumb firmly on the spool and crank it a time or two. It's surprising how often it will pull a backlash out.
