What's your preference on line for swimbaits. Braid, floro, mono? Lb test? Interested to know since I'm looking at trying out some new techniques

I use braid, floro, mono... for various techniques but for medium-large swimbaits(2oz & up) I have been using strait 20lb mono.

This is just one of probably hundreds of posts on the topic of swimbaits and line.

Personal preference is 20 and 25lb Abrazx and 25lb mean green mono.

You can use flouro on smaller swimbaits and be ok but I personally wouldn't use it on big swimbaits. Your cat off chances increase with flouro on the big ones. Not a fun thing to see especially if it is a high dollar lure. I was braid until I fished with Matt Reed one time he said it was costing me bites. I have used 20lb copoly ever since.

I throw baits up to 8oz on Abrazx and have never cast off a bait. As long as you don't have a kink in the high stress portion of your line, the first 6' or so, and don't have a major stoppage backlash mid cast, there's no reason to fear a cast off with quality fluoro. I fish with a couple of guides who are swimbait experts and they use fluoro as well, even on their client rods.
