just got back. Was able to find fish from 1-4lbs. wind kept us from being able to search better waters for bigger bites. Pretty much anything you want to beat the bank with will catch you lots of 1-1.5lb fish, with the occasional 2-3 tossed in. Pretty much all over the lake.

I was there this last weekend. Fished shallower on Saturday and then a little deeper on Sunday as the weather allowed it. The shallow bite was good, but the fish were small--10 to 15 inchers for me. Caught them mostly on senkos and a few on crank baits/jerkbaits. I fished around San Pedro and Black Brush and any given point seemed as good as the next.

On Sunday, I fished the US side around Markers 4 to 6. Got out on the main river channel where the flats fell off to deeper water. Found various grasses in 14 to 23 foot of water and fished crank baits and C-Rig. Average fish size was better and had a couple that were 3 to 4 lbs. Most of the grass out there is deep, flooded pond weed, but I would come across some short hydrilla every once in a while. Didn't find any bunched fish, but there were enough scattered to stay entertained.

Biggest surprise was the number of smallmouths we caught. Probably half of the fish we caught over the weekend were smallies.

Ray Hanselman if he's available. If your just going fun fishing for numbers and size it's hard to beat an A-rig with smaller 3 inch swim baits on that lake. Just fish it around any windblown points in castle, pedro, or areas such as that.

Not helpful at all... There's a reason why people come to this forum. They want opinions of experienced fisherman or direct input from someone who has been with a guide. I can google "lake amistad guide" and get 5000 results.
