i am heading to Sturgeon Bay next week to chase Smallmouths. Never been there and looking for advice, where to start? Any help would be appreciated.

wish I could tell you, I went out of Sturgeon Bay 2 years ago for Walleye and then on my Smallmouth day we decided to go up north Door county. I know they catch them good right there though.

I think tubes and drop shots some of the best things anywhere up there for Smallmouth.

Since I went 2 years ago the Nedrig has taken off, I just killed the Smallmouth in Kansas on Nedrig, so maybe it works further North too.

I went last year in May and had a blast. We fished the first drop offs in the bays around the rocks. We used tubes on lead jig heads and used alot of jerk baits. Cant remember exaclty which jerk bait we used but it was a Lucky Craft and on the smaller side. We use the bigger one first but they would not hit it, switched to the smaller one and it was the ticket. Finding the rock was the key for us and it was like in the 8-10 foot. WE fished alot in Little Sturgeon Bay and Sand Bay.
The food around town was really good too. You have to try the fried cheese curds.
Hope you have fun.

Oh ya forgot this one. It was my first time to fish that big of water, so watch the weather and wind closely. It does not take much to get the waves rolling.
