I posted about 10 days ago, about my son's first fly rod, etc.... and that we were heading to Roaring River State Park for Memorial Day weekend. Well, RRSP was some what of a bust trip; apparently Texas isn't the only place getting water, lol. My son did manage to catch his first rainbow trout on a fly, measuring at approximately 18". The bummer was that I was two holes down and wasn't there to watch him bring it in and of course I didn't get a picture. I do have a video of him working a sweet backhanded cast with a dry fly (have to figure out how to do video here).
Anyway, after getting our backsides handed to us at RRSP and baseball games being cancelled last night, we thought we would hit a local community pond not far from the house before the next wave of water hit Keller. Long story short, we stopped counting our fish after 10 a piece, these bluegill were averaging over a pound. We caught several bass as well, but they were young ones averaging 12" and one nice one. Needless to say, last night made up for a weekend of tough fishing and certainly helped get the fish mojo back. Looking forward to trying for some big bass in the near future, like maybe tonight.
If you live in the Keller area and looking for a cool community pond, let me know!
Anyway, here are a few pictures from last night.
