Voluntary evacuations have begun on some parts of the lake. The 380 bridge may be flooded by this evening.

Since we are on the subject of lake closures, are there any lakes remotely near Fort Worth that are still open? Is there already a thread on the forum covering this? I was going to play hookie and get the boat out on Monday and Tuesday but all the darn lakes around here are closed! What really stinks is that I am only a five minutes from Eagle Mountain. Benbrook was open Friday. Launched at the Benbrook marina

Granbury is open, BRA is already draining the lake, and the fishing sucks.

hey Keith all that flooding and they are only letting out 3000 cfs. Eagle mountain could take it they are only a ft above full. Eagle mountain has come up 2 inches in the last 24 hours I wonder why they don't let more out. 3000is nothing. They do stuff that makes no sense. Never has. Hope it all works out well for you I am sure they will do what they should do cause they always do. Johnny

Granbury is open, BRA is already draining the lake, and the fishing sucks. DRAINING THE LAKE ? All the water they are letting out and it still came up .16 foot. They could just close the gates and have "NO" control over it. I say let them control it ..... It is called "FLOOD CONTROL" Do you have any idea how much water is coming in Granbury .......? It is huge .......

Took a ride out to Runaway Bay this evening. The water lacked about 6" from getting on the roadway a short way east of the Trinity River bridge. It was already on the shoulder and a State Highway pickup was sitting there monitoring it. Lacked about a foot from being on the roadway at Runaway Bay. Trwd told me yesterday they were releasing 32 gate feet of water then. I don't know if they opened them more or not. I'm sure they will only release as much as Eagle Mountain is releasing so as to keep it somewhat even. Stopped at the bridge below the spillway and it looks like a whole lot of water is being released. Sure hate to see those hybrids going to Eagle Mountain. Some folks at Eagle Mountain will probably get a big surprise in the future when they hook up with something larger than a sand bass. Looks like we will be 'wishin we were fishin' for a while now. Looking forward to getting out and fishing some new water after everything settles down some. I've done about all the tackle arranging and boat repair, maintenance, and cleaning I can do. Time to go wet a hook.

interesting take on this subject
"it is not boaters responsibility to keep waves out of your house." you might review texas laws on this "a boater is responsible for his wake"
but more importantly is that you wouldnt want boaters wake damaging your property... if the shoe were on the other foot, perhaps there would be a different perspective,
also from another source consider this: " TRWD was told by TXDot to not let water touch the bridge on 380 at Runaway Bay if they do TRWD is responsible for replacing bridge"
sounds like there may be more at stake here than one boaters wake....

I remember the big release in 2007. I was sure that we lost all of our Hybrids. We lost some of course, a few in Eagle Mountain got to be real monsters. The fish that seem to make the trip are in the 17-22 inch range. A few bigger fish will go, but not near as many. The just stocked fingerlings are in shallow cover...lots of that to hide in.
But hey, if EM gets too thick with Hybrids, I can see helping to restore the balance to the lake by thinning them out.

Yeah, I don't think we lost that many big ones. I'm sure there are a few, but I figure the smaller ones where more apt to go travelling. I guess we'll have to go check it out some weekday. Don't relish the thought of being at EM on a weekend when they open it back up. I figure those schools of 6" to 8" hybrids with quite a few up to 18" or so will make the trip down. I agree the fry are huddled up in the back water hanging on to all the submerged weeds. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

Don't forget the really important Zebra Mussel law while moving your Hybrids. LOL

PK is sending 17000 CFS down river. Grandbury should be able to fill if they want it to.

I was at the 380 bridge yesterday and the entire area that we had been launching at for the last year was 10 or 15 feet under water. It looks pretty rough for RAB. It will settle down soon enough. We will all be catching fish on a healthy and full lake system and we will all be crying for rain again in three months. Maybe we will pick up some of those BP hybrids since they are dumping water down to Eagle!
