Is anyone able to fish below the dam or is it just too much water?

as of this morning, it's pretty dangerous, 63K CFS
virtually no place to stand except the tx wall ( have fun with that!)

It's a zoo over there. I went Sunday morning and turned right around. Traffic is even bad to get in there and some jokers are giving airboat tours. I like to think of fishing as a relaxing time and I felt more stressed out then sitting on 635 at 5pm on a Friday. Maybe it will calm in a few weeks.

We headed up there Sunday and turned around when we saw the traffic was backed up all the way to 69/75.

We caught a bunch of 6-8" gizzards up on the lake Sunday afternoon and fished below the dam on Monday morning. . . .there was no traffic at 7:00am. We struck out. . . . probably made a dozen drifts . . . .drove up to the cable and dropped baits (both free line and bouncing bottom) and drifted about 1/2 mile downstream. . . .didn't catch a fish. Might have had one good hit.. Saw a couple fish caught from the OK bank, but there was not much going on.

Talked to one guy when we pulled the boat out and he mentioned whenever they change how much water is released, it takes a couple days for the fish to start eating again. . . . I have no idea if this is true or not, but I can tell you they were not eating on Monday.

Think we're gonna try it again this weekend if I don't get a case of the LAs.

Went out there for a couple hours yesterday. Probably 30 people out there. Saw probably half dozen stripers caught from the bank. I caught one small one. Some were good size. There were two guide boats and an air boat out there. They would come up to the cutoff line and drift back down river. They were pulling stripers up one after another. Pretty tough fishing the bank with the current though.

where do they put in at?

Most people put in there boats on the Oklahoma side of the dam

You have to have a 4 wheel drive

I would highly recommend you DO NOT attempt to launch a boat below the dam with this much water running, unless you are VERY EXPERIENCED in fast-water operation.
The river is running @ 106.000 CFS this morning.
You screw up & that's it, rescue would be impossible.
Let the river go down, the fish will still be there.

Texoma just eclipsed the all time high pool level with 645 feet and it's still rising.

Previous record was 644.76 feet

i was up at denison dam yesterday...
they are fishing below the dam,,,,,,bank and boats
they are catching fish i watched one bank fisher man pull in 4 stripers

there were several boats in the tail race drifting and fishing

they were several boats/trailers on the ok side launching from the bank without any issues
they were all 4 wheel dr and nothing wimpy
since the water is HIGH er there is a spot to put in off the bank

im sure they had done this before...

I would not take my boat and friends into those conditions..
but some are doing it without any problems...
