I've got to go do some fishing this weekend, what do they look like as far as water level, clarity?

Monticello was pretty clear. Bob Sandlin was clearer the closer you got to the Dam. Both Lake are a little above full.

None of them are particularly muddy and all are around 1 foot high.

I have never been to Cypress. Might go Saturday. Is the lake easy to run etc?

I have never been to Cypress. Might go Saturday. Is the lake easy to run etc? You can run wide open on 99% of the lake. The only flooded timber is in the back of a couple coves and on the point at the mouth of the 2nd creek East of the highway bridge on the south side of the lake, but even that is obvious.

Thanks. Is the fishing decent? What is average size you can expect? Might be a fun day just to go figure out how to catch a few. I love going to new lakes. You rarely see any reports here at all.

I've only been to Sandlin and that was without boat and still had pretty good luck at state park on a brush hog.

Cypress has lots of boat docks. Also if it is a nice day lots of pleasure boaters and jet fleas especially on the weekends. No "grass" but plenty of flooded buck brush from the recent influx of water. I have not been up there this year yet but there usually is a lot of lily pads above the bridge. Not quite as many pleasure boaters and jet fleas up there.
Rocky dam that separates Cypress from Sandlin can hold some good fish. Plenty of points to fish also.

Don't run inside the buoys at the mouth of coves. Lake Patrol and homeowners watch for that stuff

Last weekend at Monticello; Smith Creek was stained to about 18 inch visibility, you had to move around to locate patches of clearer water, and they could be in a middle of a pad field.
Upper end of Blundell was muddy to stained to about 12 inch visibility.
Fished from 6 am to noon boated around 15 solid slots, largest was 6+ pounds

Went to Cypress today for first time. Boated 5 lost 3 and had a couple more bites from about 1-5. All pretty small but still fun. I'll be going back.

Was at cypress over memorial day, we caught a ton shallow around the weeds. Nothing of much size, but fun none the less. Also caught them on main lake docks when the sun was up. Lots of spots on the lake

Sorry I just saw this post or would have tried to give you some pointers. We had a lake house there for a few years. This is the best time of year for night fishing on Cypress. If you ever need some Cypress pointers shoot me a PM. Glad you went and had a good time. Cypress is an awesome bass fishery. Especially back when it had hydrilla. 7-8 pounders used to be the norm. I've caught 3 overs on that lake.
Cypress is where I learned how to bass fish and will always hold it dear to my heart. Man I miss that lake.

Caught these Memorial Day weekend on Cypress. My in-laws just bought a lake house there so this was my first time to fish the lake. You can catch all the spots you want if you like fishing deep. Looking forward to getting back up there.
