I hooked a bass the other day and was within 12 inch from its mouth to grab him and he got away... how many of you use a landing net, do you see it necessary?

For me it really depends... If one is out during a tournament and im fishing anything with trebles I will grab the net. If its a big fish I will use the net if its out and convenient otherwise I just lip the fish. When fishing with a partner, if they grab the net I usually let them net the fish as long as they net correctly

not often, and if you happen to find a big dang seagull drowning with both its feet and its beak hooked into a zara spook, don't net it. after you wrestle it down and remove the hooks it will walk up to the bow of your boat, squawk, take a deuce then fly away...

I use a net on anything that appears to be a keeper during tournaments. If I'm just out fun fishing I usually don't have the net out.

If I am with customers that don't fish much, I will net their fish if it's over 5 pounds.

I almost never call for the net but if I do, it's a whale... wink

Only in a tournament or if I'm using light line (which is pretty much never. LOL)

never...net just gets in the way...I find that anglers get their attention pulled away from fighting the fish to locating the net and that is when the fish usually gets away.

I always have mine out.
I tend to net anything over 8.
The rest I will boat flip or lip.
Always use in tournaments

bahahhahahhah

Tourney rule for me is if it is 5 or under it swings... unless I can see it is barley hooked.

When we are BIG fish hunting at like ivie, we have a fold out net clear and ready... if it is 8+ I'm sending the partner for the net, by myself, never...
