Academy has these reels on clearance for $80, $50 off retail. I really like Curados and really hate Caenans. . .this reel is supposed to bridge that gap. Anyone have an opinion on these reels?

I have 2 of the old 200Ds I think with the wide spool and I have rebuilt 1 and continue to use it as much as newer Chronarchs and Curados. I have one of the newer ones with the smaller spool I use for light topwater and it's fine. Haven't had any problems and casts really well. I believe it's worth that price.

I picked one up last time they ran this special. Really like the reel. Nothing special but a solid all around reel...especially at that price.

I bought 3 more this week, these are G's. I already had 2 200E5's, 2 200G5's and 2 200G7's in the Citica and I have less problems with them than I do my Curado 200G's which as everyone knows are not the reels that the Curado 200E's were.

Good solid overall reels, I have not had any problems with them at all, at $79.95 they are well worth is to me.

Never tried a G series, but have several 200E reels and they're great. Not as good as a Curado or Chronarch, but very functional and reliable. Biggest difference between the Citica and the higher end reels is a less ergonomic handle and they don't cast quite as far.

I have one of the new Citicas and have been very impressed with it.

For that price I would buy a bunch.

I went back and looked today, turns out all they're offering are the 5.0:1 reels. Figures. . .

probably all they have left... in fact, I went online to go order one and the search for citica comes out empty. They must have sold out online.
