Picked up a few before all the ran hit this past week.Fished Lake Dunlap from 11am till 3pm and caught about 40 nice size fish which included Bluegill,Redear, and Rios. A couple of nice bass in the 2 pound range rounded out the catch. Fish were in shallow water 2 to 4 feet deep holding close to docks.Worms were used with a bottom technique. Kept a few for dinner. Catching a few fish before some major rain. It just don't get any better! fish

Dunlap seems to be a fairly stained lake even in the best of situations.

Do you see a wide variation in how long it takes for different water bodies to clear up? It almost seems to me you have to know each water body intimately in order to estimate how long it will take to clear. You also have to add in the other factors such as how long it has been since the last rain, how much rain fell, etc. Creeks like the Yegua which have hogs rooting on the banks can get very muddy and take over a week to clear. Likewise, some small lakes will clear within a couple of days or even get clearer if spring fed. I'm starting to add this information into my decision of where to fish on any given day. Fishing in muddy water with small flies is tough, LOL. So fishing spring fed ponds after a rain is usually my first choice.

PS: Great catch!!!

Thanks Jamie,CK,and Andrew for the replies. cheers Jamie: For the most part Dunlap is a smi-clear lake. It depends on what part of the lake you are at. eeks The further up river the better the water condition. hmmm

Nice ones Chuck. This last rain last week has really messed with the patterns. Also I think GBRA is letting water out of Dunlap. Any information on that?

Thanks Chuck. Got just under three inches in my gauge from today! Jeff said he got about 4" on Mcqueeney and that all the river lakes are a muddy mess. Both Wood and Meadow lakes got SOAKED!
