I've been using those pier drop nets for some time now. Just tie a chicken hind quarter in the center and drop it down. Got'em at Academy.

Alot of your fishing questions are answered here: https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/

That's the most reliable place to get answers on whether a given fishing practice, method or device is legal. One of us could unintentionally give you bad advice, and the game warden won't care if a TFFer told you that something was legal if it ain't.

I can't give legal advice yet, but this site may have some of the answers you need: https://texaslawhelp.org/

Umbrella Net

Sometimes called crab net. A non-metallic mesh net that is suspended horizontally in the water by multiple lines attached to a rigid frame.

May be used to take crabs and nongame fish only.
May not have within the frame an area that exceeds 16 square feet

thanks! I guess it would not be legal!
