I called Southwestern and the turn around was 2 months ! It is an Abu Garcia

I called Southwestern and the turn around was 2 months ! It is an Abu Garcia yep. They are slammed. Have you thought to call Abu and just get the parts you need and fix it yourself? It isn't hard.

If you know what's wrong with it, buy the parts at Southwestern and do it yourself.
I was always scared to open them up and mess with them, but I repaired 2 Revos myself this spring and everything went great

Southwest repaired my reel in less than a month under warranty. Pretty fast turn around in my opinion given it was not an everyday kind of Abu reel.

What kind of Abu is it? I can do it no problem would be a couple of weeks before I can get to it though. I have about 6 more curados to clean first and another 9 abu round reels after those (but that guy isnt in any hurry) and im pretty close to Mansfield. Your next best bet would be 03svtsnakevert on here and he also has a reel repair thread in the rod and reel section.

Thanks for all the advise , I braved it and took the side cover off and found the gear stripped out that makes the devise go from side to side. The guy at southwestern has one in stock for $2.38. !! Lucky for me it was on the opposite side of the crank handle.
